Race Recap

Zandvoort bid farewell in fitting fashion, with Norris winning the final Dutch GP and admitting it was "a shame" to see the event go after praising its unique atmosphere. Mercedes locked out the rest of the podium: Russell recovered to the rostrum despite the race being significantly tougher than Saturday's sprint, when the car had looked far stronger — then treated Brackley and Brixworth staff to a private karting session at Silverstone to celebrate.

The wrinkle for Mercedes: Shovlin is hunting answers for the car's inconsistency between stints, and with Monza's Lesmos and Parabolica looming, high-speed corner weakness is exactly the wrong luggage to carry to Italy. Elsewhere, Hadjar sat out the weekend with a wrist injury, while McLaren CEO Zak Brown explained to SPEED's Will Buxton why he watched Zandvoort from the Washington D.C. IndyCar paddock rather than in person.

Qualifying & Grid

Technical & FIA

Ferrari's home race gets a home upgrade: the ADUO-permitted update to the 067/6 power unit arrives at Monza with aero revisions and low-drag, track-specific parts — and fans are already debating whether the SF-26 runs FTM to exploit it. Audi, meanwhile, earned a glowing external review: former Ferrari engineer Rob Smedley called its F1 power unit facility "second to none".

For the aerodynamically nostalgic, f1technical has a worthwhile explainer comparing the old DRS effect to the boost mode available under the new engine formula. On the governance side, the FIA's Ethics Committee must now weigh the Automobile Federation of Ukraine's complaint against the WMSC's decree lifting restrictions on Russian drivers.

Driver News

The Norris deal dominates: as well as the 2030 horizon plus options, PlanetF1 reports a special bonus clause buried in the contract, while Motorsport analyses what the extension means for Piastri's seat at Woking.

Steiner was typically blunt on both title fights: he says Ferrari must set clear rules of engagement and back Hamilton over Leclerc to stay in the hunt, and believes Mercedes has already made clear to Russell that his job is supporting Antonelli's championship bid. Antonelli, for his part, revealed Mercedes let him keep the original winner's trophy from his maiden victory.

Injury watch: Hadjar is "hopeful" of returning at Monza and was spotted at a French junior karting finale still wearing a wrist brace. Perez says he has "maybe three more years" and wants to spend them building Cadillac. Haas ran Hirakawa, Fornaroli and Camara in a TPC test as its 2027 line-up decision nears — with reserve Doohan, who names childhood neighbour Schumacher as his idol, waiting in the wings. A sentimental week, too: the sport marked 22 years since Schumacher's seventh title and remembered 1961 champion Phil Hill, who passed away on this day in 2008.

Championship Picture

Antonelli heads to his home race leading the drivers' standings with 11 rounds remaining — and F1.com notes the development battle's winners and losers are already moving the betting markets. Reigning champion Norris insists he remains "entirely confident" McLaren can make the changes needed to fight for the crown, while Steiner's team-orders warning implies Ferrari's window is closing unless it picks a number one. A grid penalty at Monza is exactly the kind of variable that can compress a title fight fast.

Race Weekend Preview

Monza delivers a stacked card: Ferrari's ADUO engine upgrade gets its first competitive laps at the temple of speed, Antonelli faces a recovery drive in front of the tifosi, and Hadjar's fitness will be a daily watch. Add Steiner's comments stoking the Hamilton–Leclerc hierarchy debate, and Ferrari arrives at its home race with performance questions and political ones. And if your social feed shows Monaco looking suspiciously like 1962 — that's just Bradley Cooper filming the Ocean's Eleven prequel.
